More On The Motorola RAZR V3c

So after a couple of weeks with my new RAZR, some corrections/additions/discoveries to report. Like all the other RAZRs, the jack on the side is actually a mini-USB port. Even with Verizon's crippling of the phone, interfacing to a computer still works. You'll need a mini-USB-to-USB cable, but that is easily found at your local Radio Shack or online. Also you'll need to install the latest Motorola Phone Tools (v3.28 -- I think all 3.x versions will live update to 3.28). Interfacing to a computer will allow you to save/sync your contacts, save/load pictures, use your existing MP3s as ringtones, and charge the phone to boot! Well worth setting up!

I have also noted an interesting behavior. 3rd party charging equipment which is clearly capable of charging the phone via mini-USB will not always work (in my case I was trying to use Zip-Linq adapters which charge most any USB powered device). The phone displays an "Unauthorized Charger" message and simply refuses to charge. That to me is totally ridiculous and clearly an attempt by Verizon to force people to buy accessories from them only. That's the price you pay for being on the most reliable network, I guess.
